Winter dates have a distinctive crunchiness that resembles the texture of apples. Although they possess a slightly drier and crisper texture than apples, their refreshing sweetness is not overpowering. The skin is similar to that of an apple, but thinner, and there is a little pit in the centre of the fruit. 

As a result, winter jujubes prove to be a versatile ingredient, they can be incorporated into Chinese soups, teas, and desserts, often paired with snow fungus, red dates, and ginkgo nuts.
