Star Ruby Grapefruit

Grapefruits are the result of crossing a pomelo and an orange. This pink and ruby red grapefruit has a smooth skin and few seeds and tends to be sweeter than the more acidic yellow variety. They have a similar taste and acidity to oranges but are much more tangy and have a refreshing floral note that distinguishes them from oranges.

STORAGE

For short-term storage, keep grapefruits on the countertop if you plan to consume them within a week. If not, refrigerate them in the vegetable drawer with low humidity fruit. Grapefruits, despite their strong exterior, are a delicate fruit, so avoid stacking too many on top of each other to prevent spoilage and bruising.

According to a 2006 study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food, participants  who ate half a grapefruit before each meal experienced improved satiety and better control over unhealthy snacking. Additionally, they showed enhanced insulin sensitivity compared to those who did not consume grapefruit.
