Seedless Lychees

These semi seedless lychees are known for their partially developed seeds called "chicken tongue" and such fruits are prized because of the greater proportion of flesh. With the same sweetness and seed to flesh ratio, they are reasonably priced for those who like to try an almost seedless lychee experience. Like normal lychees, they have a thin, leathery, rough or minutely warty skin, flexible and easily peeled when fresh. Immediately beneath the skin of some varieties is a small amount of clear, delicious juice. The glossy, succulent, thick, translucent-white to greyish or pinkish fleshy aril which usually separates readily from the seed, suggests a large, luscious grape. The flavour of the flesh is subacid and distinctive. 

STORAGE

If you purchase lychees fresh, keep them refrigerated once you get them home. Lychees, unlike certain tropical fruits such as avocados, mangoes, and bananas, do not mature after being plucked. It's also a good idea to separate overripe and crushed lychees that are damp, crushed, or have a strong fermented flavour.
