Rambutan

Rambutan is a very distinctive looking fruit with its hairy outer skin. It has an almost overwhelming sweet and juicy flavour with hints of lychee, mango, and floral resemblance. Although they are often compared to lychees in terms of sweetness, beneath the outer layer is a chewy interior with an appealing gelatin like texture and liquid that bursts when bitten into. 

STORAGE

At room temperature, rambutan will last for a few days. Whereas the fruit can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

FUN FACTS & TIPS

Rambutan seed husks have a tendency to attach themselves to the flesh of the fruit, so it is common to consume the tough, papery coating that surrounds the rambutan seed by accident. It is usually advised to nibble the flesh around the seeds rather than biting into it because it does not taste particularly good.
