Flat Yellow Donut Peach

The flat donut peach is a variety with typical palm-sized, light yellow fruit. They are characterised by their flattened shape and are less fuzzy than other peaches. Donut peaches are reported to have a more complex flavour and aroma, generally with a hint of almond that is easy to eat in a few drippy, delectable bits.

To allow your peaches to ripen properly, do not shop them in the refrigerator. Donut peaches are best eaten fresh, as their tender flesh and delicious qualities are at their best when eaten raw. They can also be substituted for peaches in any recipe that calls for them, but they lack the sweet-tart flavour of the yellow-fleshed fruit.
