Cara Cara Oranges

Cara Cara oranges are known for being extremely sweet and having a slightly lower acidity than regular navels. They are round and have a bright orange skin, similar to typical navels. What makes these oranges special is the flesh of Cara Cara navel, which is pinkish-red and orange. Compared to ordinary navels, their flavour is very distinct: very sweet with a hint of spiciness. You might even feel reminded of berries like raspberries, strawberries and cranberries when eating them. 

STORAGE

As with other citrus fruits, keep Cara Cara oranges in a cool place. Kept on the counter, they will keep for three to four days. It is better off putting them in the refrigerator, where they will keep for up to two weeks. To enjoy the flavour of Cara Cara oranges year-round, juice them in season and freeze them in an airtight container for up to six months.

The soft, seedless flesh of the Cara Cara can be eaten fresh or juiced.
