Dole/Del Monte Philippine honey pineapples are called "royals" pineapples because of their magnificent golden skin when ripe and their stunning dark green crown. STORAGE

Pineapples do not continue to ripen after harvest, but the enzymes that make them so soft also cause them to spoil quickly. A whole pineapple can stay on the counter for a day or two, but to keep it as fresh as possible, slice and shop it as soon as possible. Fresh pineapple will keep in your fridge for two to four days after it has been sliced. Even in an airtight container, it can turn brown. Therefore, soak the pieces in orange juice to keep them bright and fresh.
