These kinkans can be eaten whole without removing the shiny orange peel as the skin, flesh and seeds of the bite-sized fruit are all edible. They are like the petite version of the tangerine and easy to eat. The kinkans as a whole have a high sugar content and are pleasantly aromatic and delicious, balancing the zesty citrus flavour.
STORAGE
Whole, unwashed kinkans will keep for up to seven days at room temperature. Stored in the original plastic bag in the refrigerator, the fruit will keep for 1 to 2 weeks.

Kumquats have a sugar content of at least 16% BRIX and a diameter of at least 2.8 cm, while Tamatama Excellent kumquats have a sugar content of at least 18 % BRIX and a diameter of at least 3.2 cm.
