Green Kiwi

The green kiwi is about the size of an egg, has a russet-brown, thin skin and short, stiff furry hairs. It has the classic fresh, tart-sweet taste associated with kiwis. When cut in half, you will find an almost shimmering emerald green flesh that resembles a kaleidoscope and is speckled with a large number of dark, almost black, microscopic edible seeds that form the fruit's characteristic inner star pattern. The flesh can be yellow, brownish or off-white at times. 

STORAGE

Zespri® Green Kiwifruit can be stiffer when you buy them, so you should let them ripen at room temperature. A ripe kiwi, like a peach or avocado, should yield to light pressure. After ripening, the kiwi can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week.

One of the easiest ways to eat kiwis is to cut them in half and spoon out the flesh. Some people eat this sun-kissed kind without the fuzz on the skin, just like an apple or plum!
