The taste of Zespri® SunGold kiwi is very different from that of green kiwi. These golden kiwis have a unique zesty, tropically delicious taste. Some even compare them to a cross between a mango and a strawberry. Although the skin is edible, the golden kiwi is usually peeled before eating.

 

STORAGE

When you buy Zespri® SunGoldTM, the golden kiwi is usually ripe and ready to eat, and it gets sweeter as it softens. A ripe kiwi, like a peach or avocado, should yield to light pressure. When ripe, the SunGold kiwi can be stored in the refrigerator for about two weeks.

 

FUN FACTS & TIPS

The gold kiwi is also known for the enzyme it contains that tenderises meat. Try marinating the meat for thirty minutes per centimetre of thickness. The green kiwi also goes well with bananas, berries, mangoes, strawberries, raspberries and oranges.
