Surge in Demand for Coconut Post-Covid-19 Vaccination
We have seen a surge in coconut sales in June and July.
It's possible that the spike in sales of coconut water after Covid-19 vaccinations could be related to the idea that coconut water is a good source of hydration. After receiving the vaccine, some people may feel the need to hydrate more, and coconut water is a natural and refreshing alternative to other drinks. Additionally, coconut water is a source of electrolytes and can help replenish the body's fluids, which could also contribute to the increased sales.
While commercially bottled coconut water is convenient and widely available, it is frequently pasteurised to ensure safety and to extend shelf life. Thermal pasteurisation can deplete coconut nutrients such as electrolytes, which are required for effective hydration. Hence many of our customers prefer to extract the coconut water from the fresh coconut, as the benefits can only be obtained from fresh, raw coconut water.
Just be sure to consume your fresh coconut as soon as possible! When you cut open a coconut, it will begin to oxidise and become susceptible to germs.
However, it's important to note that this is just speculation and further research is needed to establish that coconut water naturally has cooling properties that helps alleviate the intensity of the common side effects like heatiness from Covid-19 vaccination.
