When consumed raw, Royale Chinese Chives (also known as Qing Long Cai) boast a robust flavour that complements a variety of Chinese and Thai dishes, such as wheatgrass tofu and stir-fry recipes. The leaves of the plant are tapering hollow and cylindrical, with a soft texture. Basic stir-frying of Qing Long Cai with thinly-sliced garlic, dried shrimps, ginger, and a dash of cooking oil creates a simple yet comforting homey dish that brings out the chives' natural, moderately sweet taste. Don't miss out on adding this delicious ingredient to your cart for your next culinary adventure!
Wrap it in a moist paper towel, place it in a ziplock bag, and store it in the refrigerator to maximise the lifespan of these chives.
Green dragon veggies are grown in the same way that yellow chives are. The Chinese chives are completely covered in order to create yellow chives (flat yellowish-whitish leaves owing to a lack of chlorophyll). Chinese chives are grown into green dragon veggies, which have flat light green leaves, by covering them with thick nets to prevent sunlight. The green dragon vegetable has less fibres, is tenderer, and is very mild as a result of minimising its exposure to sunlight. When cooked, it emits a distinct aromatic aroma.
