These sweet, low acidity and almost seedless Ehime Mikan tangerines are ideal for juicing or eating on their own. Mikan skin is loose and easy to peel, making it a great on-the-go snack. The word 'Ehime' is a mythologically name that means ‘lovely princess’ and in Japan. It is also known Aunshu Mikan, which translates as "Wezhou honey citrus" (which also refers to a city in China).
Mikans can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week if kept in a plastic bag or in their original packaging.
Does the bear character on the packaging box look familiar? It is the official mascot of Matsuyama, a Mikan character named Mikyan! You can find this heart-shaped nose mascot on everything from umbrellas to socks in Japan.
