Custard apples are a sizeable creamy sweet fruit (about the size of your hand) that comes in a variety of forms, such as heart-shaped, oblong or irregular. When the custard apple begins to mature, its green colour turns to yellow or brownish. When ripe, they make a great after-dinner treat, and one fruit is more than enough for two people! Everyone's first impression to this fruit was, "Wow, this is extraordinarily sweet!" That explains why the terms "sugar" and "sweet" occur in several of its English names. They are commonly found in many warmer areas. Custard apples may be found in Spain, Peru, Southern Taiwan, Australia, China, and Thailand.
Â
You can store the ripe custard apple at room temperature if you are confident that you will be able to consume it within a day. The sugar apple will remain fresh for 24 hours. Make sure that they are stored in a cold and dry area, away from all heat sources since they may go bad. For unripe ones you may keep them under the sunlight to make them ripe.

Freezing the custard apple for preparing meals is absolutely OK. Also, if you want to savour the taste of this exquisite fruit out of season, you may keep it in the freezer and turn it into ice cream. The frozen custard apples can be utilised for a long-term duration.
