The Australian R2E2 mangoes, which Aussie customers have gradually come to know and appreciate since it was initially introduced 25 years ago. This cultivar is large and spherical in shape, with orange-coloured skin with a medium scarlet red blush and non-fibrous, delicious yellow flesh. It has a lengthy shelf life and is accessible from November to February. R2E2 mangoes are great to consume fresh or to include in a summer mango salad, smoothie or dessert.
R2E2 should be stored at room temperature for a few days, away from direct sunlight, until it ripens. They can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days if they are ripe. It is best not to store them in a plastic bag.
